This is the quintessential summary of the history and framework of both white settler-colonialism even within modern queer scholarship, and the full breadth of complexities and necessary framework to approach this field. It is a theory heavy and difficult read, so establishing at least some background knowledge on queer history methodology and representation and Indigenous history and methodological theory to fully gain the full value of the text, but it is the most complete work in the field I have encountered.
